Coal. for a Common Cents Solution v. State of Iowa (Iowa District Court for Warren County, April 2002).
A coalition of 160 school districts and individual plaintiffs allege that the state’s system of financing public education through local sales and services taxes is unconstitutional in that it provides unequal and inadequate educational resources to children who live in “non-retail-rich” counties. A settlement was reached in 2004, after legislative changes to the funding statutes. The suit was withdrawn without prejudice.
